New town centre venue for Get Healthy Rotherham

Get Healthy Rotherham’s latest venue - the ‘Get Healthy Rotherham Hub’ inside Rotherham Indoor Market - was officially opened in the summer as part of World Wellbeing Week 2019.

The Hub is the latest addition to Get Healthy Rotherham’s existing stop smoking and health check clinics which are already delivered in various community venues across Rotherham. It offers access to our free smoking cessation programme which offers expert advice and stop smoking medication (for people aged over 18) and free NHS Health Checks (for people aged 40-74 who meet the eligibility criteria).

The market Hub is also well placed to help fellow market stall holders to make healthy lifestyle changes. Julie from the market’s Makeup Box stall underwent an NHS Health Check at the Hub in April. Julie said: “Since having my health check I’m eating healthier and doing more exercise; as a result I feel a lot fitter and have loads more energy. I would definitely recommend having the NHS Health Check through Get Healthy Rotherham.”

Get Healthy Rotherham is commissioned by Rotherham Council and the Hub was opened by Cllr David Roche, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Adult Care at Rotherham Council, and Chair of the Rotherham Tobacco Alliance.

Both the NHS Health Checks and the smoking cessation programme are appointment based, and the Hub is open Monday - Friday 9am - 4.30pm and every Saturday 9am - 2pm.

Anyone interested in an NHS Health Check or stopping smoking can contact Get Healthy Rotherham via www.gethealthyrotherham.co.uk or call 01709 718720 (lines open 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am - 2pm every Saturday). To find out more about the NHS Health Check visit www.healthcheck.nhs.uk
