BreathingSpace Open Day - World COPD Day November 20, 2019

Do you have or know someone who has COPD?

Want to find out more about COPD and the support available?

Come on down to Breathing Space’s Open Day this Wednesday 20 November 10am - 3pm - World COPD Day.  The day includes information and various activities on subjects including lung function, pulmonary rehabilitation and how Breathing Space can help patients with COPD.

There will also be different support services there for people to talk to, and Get Healthy Rotherham will be there all day to advise people on their healthy lifestyle support including their FREE stop smoking programme for patients in Rotherham. Smoking is one of the three main causes of COPD and stopping smoking can help slow down the progression of the disease.

COPD - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - describes a group of lung conditions which cause serious breathing difficulties, including chronic (long-term) bronchitis and emphysema. Symptoms can include shortness of breath, a repetitive cough, feeling tired, more frequent chest infections, taking longer to recover from a cold or chest infection. The biggest risk factors for COPD include smoking, indoor and outdoor pollution, occupational dusts and chemicals.

Breathing Space is a community based facility on Badsley Moor Lane in Rotherham dedicated to helping people in Rotherham with COPD, other respiratory conditions and their carers.  For more information about BreathingSpace please contact them directly on 01709 421700 or speak to your GP, Practice Nurse, Hospital Consultant or Community Matron.
